Monaghan County Council, which is responsible for the administration of local government for the county, tendered for a hybrid cloud, hyperconverged infrastructure to replace its expensive and complex legacy system. It was essential to the local authority that the system would be easy to use, prevent data loss and facilitate effective disaster recovery and business continuity.
The new system would have to be cost-effective but also efficient, flexible, scalable and need to be able to cater for future growth. Security of the council’s data was also a key requirement for a resilient system that would cater for a wide range of applications.
What We Did
We knew that Monaghan County Council wanted – and needed – a modern infrastructure that leveraged cutting-edge technology at a lower cost than its existing systems. Our solution was designed around HPE SimpliVity Hyperconverged, which offers all the functionality of a traditional IT infrastructure – including server, storage and data protection – in a single device.
The HPE SimpliVity system delivers a lower total cost of ownership than other hyperconverged solutions and provides simplified management through VMware which eliminates the need for retraining of IT staff. Data backup and disaster recovery are integrated within SimpliVity, which provides Monaghan County Council with a level of protection previously unachievable with its legacy systems. It has provided the local authority with a simple solution that the team was able to adopt quickly and seamlessly without sacrificing performance or scalability – all at a more affordable cost.
